Upcoming Musicals to watch out for when in Paris

Soy de Cuba

Soy de Cuba is a dynamic new show that has been a sell-out sensation throughout France. This story of the young ingénue, Ayala, and her dreams of becoming a professional dancer pulses with exotic Cuban passion, vibrant music and stunning dancing and is set in the Soy de Cuba club, where musical legends perform. This red hot show runs from November 20th to December 7th at La Cigale.

An American in Paris

The Théâtre du Châtelet is the venue from November 23rd for an old favourite. An American In Paris is a show adapted for the stage from the great musical movie that starred Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. Great music by George Gershwin drives this heartwarming story of an American GI and the French girl who captures his heart.

Bollywood Express

The film industry of India provides the backdrop for Bollywood Express, a tale of romance and colourfully exotic spectacle as a young Parisian journalist finds much more than expected amidst the enchantment of the subcontinent. You can enjoy this one at the Palais des Congrès from November 27th to 30th.

Tap Factory

If you want to see the traditional art of tap dancing given a vibrant new lease of life and brought into the 21st century, then Tap Factory is the show for you. Combining acrobatics, humour and some truly mindboggling footwork, this toe-tapping production is at the Palais des Congrès on December 12th and 13th.

What is the story of the name, Place Monge?

Many of the street names in Paris have a tale to tell. One of these is the Place Monge, where the BW Hotel Quartier Latin Panthéon stands. It is named in honour of Gaspard Monge, a pioneering mathematician and the father of the system of descriptive geometry upon which technical drawing is based. His life is an inspirational one, the story of a man achieving success through hard work and talent, only to be treated disgracefully before being raised again to his proper place in the pantheon of French scientific heritage. We invite you to read the story of Gaspard Monge and his contributions to society.
