Paris Plages 2014 offers the perfect excuse to slap on some sunscreen, pitch your deckchair, buy an ice cream and soak up the sun by the Seine. Meanwhile the range of outdoor pursuits offered by Les Berges is virtually endless. Then, in the evening, outdoor cinema at La Villette provides a golden opportunity to watch great movies in the open air. Yes, the Parisian summer is in full swing and there’s a lot to do outside. At the BW Hotel Quartier Latin Pantheon we are always delighted to keep you abreast of what’s going on under the blue Parisian sky.
Seaside resorts along the Seine and at La Villette
From late July until late August three locations along the Seine transform into seaside resorts. Huge quantities of sand are shipped in, swimming pools are set up, sports facilities are provided and free music concerts are staged in the evenings. Open free of charge from 8:00 a.m. until midnight, the Louvre/Pont de Sully, Port de la Gare and Bassin de la Villette offer you all the pleasures of a beach holiday without having to leave the city. The Parc de la Villette is a major outdoor cultural hub of the capital. From July 23rd to August 24th this glorious green space adds to this reputation by becoming a free open air cinema. A huge screen is set up and everyone is welcome to come along, get comfortable on the grass or in a deckchair, and experience the warm communal vibe of a good movie enjoyed beneath the open skies.
The recently renovated 2.3 kilometre stretch of the Left Bank known as Les Berges is a vibrant public space offering a huge selection of games, play areas for children, open air dining opportunities and lots more entertainment. There’s always something happening, running the gamut from A to Zumba. Check out the website for the many scheduled activities available. From June 25 to September 21, an exhibition “Les Stars et la Seine” (Stars and the Seine river) will present great stars immortalized by photographers from Paris Match. These rare photographs show these icons walking along the Seine ...
