The Musical Fountains Show: a journey through time

The Musical Fountains Show: a journey through time

The richness of the historic heritage of Paris and the capital’s worldwide reputation in the field of haute couture both play a key role in drawing visitors to the City of Light. The Musical Fountains Show of Versailles and Fashion Week are perfect examples of why Paris is such a major attraction.

The magic of the gardens of Versailles

Brilliantly designed and sumptuously built during the reign of Louis XIV from a modest hunting lodge, the Château de Versailles is today unanimously considered to be one of the masterpieces of neoclassical architecture. A symbol of the erstwhile domination of the Kingdom of France over Europe, the fame of the palace rests in part on its magnificent gardens. Created ‘à la Française’ by the renowned landscape architect André Le Nôtre and the artist Charles Le Brun, they presented a stunning example of royal splendour, as they still do today. This tradition is embodied by the Musical Fountains Show of Versailles.

From March 31st to October 31st, 2017, the palace opens its gardens and groves to visitors and recreates in music the atmosphere that permeated them in the days of old. The Musical Fountains Show has been enjoyed for over 350 years and still provides a unique opportunity to discover the magnificence of the 55 fountains and exquisite gardens of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The baroque works of composers such as Lully and Rameau accompany visitors on an enchanting walk, during which the play of the fountains seems to momentarily animate the statues placed throughout the gardens. Each Saturday evening during the summer you can relive the grandeur of the court of the Sun King. Your royal stroll will also be enhanced by an exceptional light show and a fireworks display.

Paris; the world trend capital for Fashion Week

If there is a field of creativity in which Paris reigns supreme, it is the world of haute couture. From July 2nd to 6th, 2017, the world’s greatest fashion designers will assemble in the city to introduce their latest collections to the fortunate few invited to attend their catwalk shows. Twice a year, Paris Fashion Week reveals what will be hot in haute couture for the coming season, and there could be no better place than Paris to present the latest trends. Held in venues throughout the city, the excitement and creativity of Paris Fashion Week gives the City of Light the additional and well-deserved title of World Capital of Fashion.

This year, once again, the most prestigious haute couture houses will be in attendance, from Chanel to Jean-Paul Gaultier, via Valentino and Margiela. This is sheer heaven for fashion aficionados.
