Art and antiques in the Latin Quarter

Ensure an enjoyable and memorable start to your summer with a break in Paris and experience some of the many events that the French capital plays host to at this time of year. Whether you plan to come alone or with your family or friends, why not take advantage of the sunny days during your stay at the Hotel Best Western Quartier Latin by combining exhibitions, shows and festivals with a picnic or two? Here are a couple of ideas for your holiday itinerary; the Carré Rive Gauche and the Tino Rossi Garden Walk.

The Carré Rive Gauche, exploring the worlds of art and antiques

Every year, the Carré Rive Gauche association sets up a trail involving various art and antiques galleries, allowing enthusiasts and collectors to discover the wares of Parisian antique dealers while being captivated by extraordinary works of art. The event highlights one of the most famous areas in the capital for dealers in art and antiques. Between visits to galleries you can seize the opportunity to enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Seine! Then plunge back into your journey of discovery, meeting dealers and enthusiasts who have the history of each of their pieces at their fingertips and are only too happy to share their information with you. An evocative name was chosen for this fortnight of celebrating art and antiques: ExtraORdinaire. So there’s no doubt that this event will make your holidays extraordinary, especially since the association celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. This extra-special occasion will be marked in the rues du Bac, de l’Université and des Saints-Pères. Between the musical performances, the previews and eclectic presentations offered by Alexandre Piatti, Philippe Vichot and the Galerie Bazin, your holiday will be bursting with precious moments of discovery.

A stroll in the Jardin Tino Rossi is an artistic experience

What would you say to a walk in a picturesque green space on the edge of the Seine while contemplating works of art? It’s an opportunity to admire two forms of beauty side by side, that of nature and that of the mind’s boundless creativity. During your stay at the Hotel Best Western Quartier Latin you’ll be close to the Jardin Tino Rossi, located at 2 Quai Saint-Bernard in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. Created in the year 1980, this riverside park hosts a museum of a very particular type: one devoted to open-air sculpture. Stroll amidst the trees, shrubs and flowers flourishing along the Left Bank of one of the world’s best-known rivers, pausing to admire the works of sculptors of genius such as Brancusi, Zadkine, Stahly and many more. Better still, from June to the end of August you’ll be able to experience the joy of Danses sur Seine. Throughout the summer evenings hundreds of people meet in the Port Saint-Bernard area of the Seine’s quays to dance to all kinds of music. Why not come along and join in?
